Reported by lisa_barry@ipsd.org on 12/1/21

Our District 204 Community has experienced many losses due to COVID-19 and Mental Health related conditions. Mental health awareness is more important now than ever. District 204 understands the seriousness of how and why our students are struggling and we are evaluating proactive steps to provide continued support for our students and staff.

We’ve added additional mental health resources to the IPSD website which can be accessed here.

Perception of harm is changing with marijuana's availability to those over 21, however, harmful effects of underage marijuana use haven't changed. Youth are less likely to try marijuana if they know exactly how their parents feel about drug use. Parents and other trusted adults can help teens learn about the risks, and help them make better choices to prevent them from experimenting and developing a problem with marijuana use. Learn about the ways marijuana is used, including vaping, dabbing, and the look-alike snack products contributing to THC overdoses in youth.
