Concepts to be Taught:

HOW LIVING THINGS FUNCTION, ADAPT, AND CHANGE
Identify/describe component parts of living things and their major functions.
PROPERTIES OF MATTER AND ENERGY AND THE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN THEM
Compare large-scale physical properties of matter like size, shape, color, texture, odor, etc.
Observe lenses interacting with light to experience magnification, rainbows, etc.
DESCRIBE FORCE AND MOTION AND THE PRINCIPLES THAT THAT EXPLAIN THEM
Identify examples of motion (Example: light travels in straight lines).
DESCRIBE FEATURES AND PROCESSES OF EARTH AND ITS RESOURCES
Identify and describe patterns of weather and seasonal change.
Identify components of Earth's layers.
EXPLAIN COMPOSITION AND STRUCTURE OF THE UNIVERSE AND EARTH'S PLACE IN IT
Identify and describe characteristics of celestial bodies (Example: planets, sun, moons, etc.).
Identify daily, seasonal and annual patterns related to the Earth's rotation and revolution.

Science, Technology, and Society

Grade Level Standard:
The learner will continue to develop their understanding of science and technology, and its place in our society.
