First Grade Science

Grade Level Standard:
The learner will be introduced to concepts and basic vocabulary of the life, physical, and
earth/space sciences.
Concepts
to be Taught:
 | HOW LIVING THINGS FUNCTION, ADAPT, AND CHANGE
 | Identify/describe
component parts of living things and their major functions. |

 | PROPERTIES OF MATTER AND ENERGY AND THE
INTERACTIONS BETWEEN THEM
 | Compare
large-scale physical properties of matter like size, shape, color, texture, odor, etc. |
 | Observe lenses
interacting with light to experience magnification, rainbows, etc. |

 | DESCRIBE FORCE AND MOTION AND THE PRINCIPLES THAT
THAT EXPLAIN THEM
 | Identify
examples of motion (Example: light travels in straight lines). |
